Choir Director
Gabi Marcus (she/they) started her singing journey at a young age when her parents enrolled her in the Phoenix Boys Choir. From then on, Ms. Marcus was always singing in a choir. Following her passion, she studied music at Northern Arizona University where Gabi excelled as a choral artist and leader. Some notable achievements include acting as the president of The Shrine of the Ages Choir (Dr. Copley) and leading the Sedona Academy Of Chamber Singers (Dr.Holder) as their staging director for their summer 2022 presentation of Craig Hella Johnson’s “Considering Matthew Shepard.” Ms. Marcus Graduated in 2019 with her degree in vocal performance and following a brief period where the world stopped…moved to Portland Oregon in 2021 to pursue a career in the choral arts.
Gabi keeps choir at the center of her creative journey in hopes to elevate the art form and increase inclusion. She is thrilled to be the choir director of Southminster and her passion project, Rainbowility chorus, both of which operate with inclusion at their core. Since moving to Portland Gabi has also begun a career in Behavioral Analysis acting as a Direct Support professional for ALSO and most recently as a clinical behavior specialist for CSD.
Gabi is thrilled to uphold the long tradition of musical excellence at Southminster Presbyterian. If you are interested in singing with the choir, please reach out, there is space for everyone no matter where you are on your singing journey!
